Daily Task/Shared Living
A support that allows participants to complete activities of daily living that they are unable to complete due to their disability.
We provide assistance with tasks of daily life for our Service User in a shared living environment, which is either temporary or ongoing, with a focus on developing the skills of each individual to live as autonomously as possible. Includes short-term accommodation and assistance (e.g. respite care), different from usual arrangements – may include short stays in group-based facility, or purchase of additional in-home support. Includes all expenses in 24 hr period incl. assistance with daily personal activities, accommodation, food & negotiated activities. Is for short periods of up to 14 days at a time.
Assist Personal Activities
Assist with and/or supervise personal tasks of daily life in the home and community to develop skills of our Service User and enable them to live as independently as possible. These individual supports can be provided in a range of environments, including but not limited to, the Service User’s own home, and include sleepover support.
Assist Travel Transport
The provision of transport to enable participation in community, social, economic and daily life activities including transport to medical appointments. This includes, but is not limited to, taxis and specialist transport arrangements. It is provided when the individual is unable to access alternative forms of transport as a result of their disability.
AHSS provides travel and transport services to people with disability. Assistance with travel and transport include supports that enable participants to build capacity to independently travel, including through personal transport-related aids and equipment, or training to use public transport.
A participant’s transport supports may also include the reasonable and necessary costs of taxis or other private transport options for participants who are not able to travel independently, as well as transport to and from school for students.
An AHSS staff member will assist you to attend your appointment or another place in the community and take you back home when you’re done:
- School or another educational facility
- Work
- Your doctor or other medical appointments
- Your local shopping centres
- Around your community
